 WILL MY ANDROID DEVICE RECIEVE NEARBY NOTIFICATIONS?

Nearby Notifications is a feature recently developed by Google that allows Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) capable Android devices to interact with BLE beacons without an app. Nearby Notifications is supported on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and newer. Many Android devices now come with Nearby already installed and running but not all so to confirm that your Android device has Nearby Notifications enabled, please check the following:

Go to Settings:

Settings -> Google:

Settings -> Google -> Nearby:

Also, if the Bluetooth or Location is off on your device, you will not receive Nearby Notifications.

To Enable Bluetooth:

  1. Open your device’s Settings app.
  2. Tap Connected Devices and then Bluetooth (if you do not see “Connected Devices”, tap Bluetooth).
  3. Turn Bluetooth on.
At the top of your screen, a Bluetooth icon shows when Bluetooth is on. To enable Location:
  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Security and Location and then Location. (If you do not see "Security & Location", tap Location).
  3. Turn Location On.

 HOW DO I CONFIGURE MY IOS SETTINGS TO ALLOW D2GO NOTIFICATIONS?

 ENABLE BLUETOOTH

Bluetooth beacons are one of the sensors used to trigger notifications and content delivery. Since the beacons advertise Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE), your mobile device must have Bluetooth Enabled. This is enabled at Settings -> Bluetooth as shown below.

 ENABLE LOCATION SERVICES

The D2GO app utilizes the mobile device’s location to collect data and deliver targeted messaging so therefore, the mobile device must utilize location services. Location Services are enabled by navigating to Settings -> Privacy and then enabling Location Services as shown below.

You will also need to make sure that the Digital2Go App allows location as well by navigating to the app under Settings -> Privacy -> Digital2Go and then making sure that Location is always used as shown below.

 ALLOW NOTIFICATIONS

For notifications to be delivered to the D2GO Demo App, you will need to make sure that the D2GO Demo App (or whatever app is utilizing the D2GO Services) allows notifications. You can allow notifications for an app (in this case the Digital2Go app) by navigating to the specific app by going to Settings ->Notifications -> Digital2Go and then allowing notifications as shown below.

Notifications should be allowed by default after installing the app but it would be helpful to confirm.

 ENABLE AD TRACKING

The D2GO utilizes your mobile device ID to learn about the user’s behavior and to better deliver appropriate content. Therefore, you will need to make sure that ad tracking is enabled by not limiting ad tracking by navigating to Settings ->Privacy ->Advertising as shown below
